Due to time constraints I am just posting the Wiki bio- I don't have time this week to write, but wanted to post a few pictures from this really cool CD celebration with the Ragbirds. The Understory and the Appleseed Collective opened for them at the Magic Bag in Ferndale, MI. From wiki: "The Ragbirds are a 5-piece, female-led, folk-rock-world fusion band out of Ann Arbor, Michigan. They describe their music as "infectious global groove". The musical roots of The Ragbirds sou
Coco Montoya rocked it out at Callahans in Auburn Hills last night to a sold out crowd. Great guitar playing, original songs and a guest appearance from Jim McCarty. If you were not there- you missed it!
My photography internship at the Detroit Metro Times weekly has been quite an adventure and I am so thankful for all the hours I have logged in as a media photographer. The experience and media access has been priceless and my work has improved from so much hands-on experience. From no lights on stage to too much light- I have seen quite a range of lighting conditions as well as fan/crowd conditions. Being pushed & punched in the head and side by some big tall drunk girl at t
Wow! That's all I can say after such a magic evening with Soul sensation Andra Day! The lights were super red- so I made lemonade from lemon lighting and - in the end it was the perfect idea- Black and white came out so lovely and retro looking. The images really go with this artists marketing style, retro look and even the feel of the music. ''Rise up'' was so lovely- thank you Miss Day for that sing along! #Inspired #FeelingStrong
This Tampa bay based artist won best new blues act a year ago or so and has not stopped building momentum from that press. With several CDs under his belt- these guys continue to rock the blues on a tour across the US and Ontario, Canada. If you have not had a chance to see Selwyn live yet, it's a must see, hear and dance thing to do!
Finally got to see Aussie rockers Wolfmother at St Andrews Hall last weekend and the show was sold out! There is a reason why people of all ages and colors throng to these shows- the energy is great! Lead singer Andrew Stockdale belted out his trademark "Woman" song and the new cuts from the Victorious CD. Including Pretty Peggy and Heavy...The band cranked it out and the crowd ate it up. After Detroit they played Toronto and my pals said it was also sold out!
LA rockers Deap Vally opened for Wolfmother at St Andrews last weekend in Detroit. The duo's latest hit is entitled Royal Jelly and the official video features one of the Jagger daughters in it. Other hits include "Gonna make my own money" and "Lies." I really enjoyed Lindsey Troy climbing up on the drum set- a signature move they do at each show. And also I enjoyed the fact that their main drummer was out on maternity leave and they had a fill in drummer - now that is cool!
